The President of Georgia described the explosion of National Movement member Givi Targamadze’s car as a terrorist attack. The President made the mentioned comments at the meeting with students at the Vaziani military base. The President hopes that the injured persons will recover soon.
"The MP’s car was exploded in the center of the city. Luckily there are no fatalities. I hope the injured persons will recover shortly and we will not have victims of a terrorist attack", - the President said.
According to him, yesterday's incident was an attack on normal democratic processes and it needs a political assessment.
A car belonging to Givi Targamadze, one of the leaders of the National Movement, exploded yesterday. Four passersby and Targamadze’s driver were injured. The Interior Ministry launched an investigation under article 19-109 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to an assassination attempt in aggravating circumstances.
