According to Preben Aaman, Spokesperson for the European Council President, Donald Tusk’s visit to Georgia was cancelled because of events currently transpiring in Greece.
“You know that a few-hour-long summit was held on Greek issues. Many talks are still to be conducted. For these reasons, Donald Tusk’s visit to Georgia was canceled,” he said.

According to him, it still remains unknown when the European Council President will pay a visit to Georgia.

Donald Tusk was to arrive in Georgia by the President’s invitation on July 14. On the first day, a meeting was scheduled with President Giorgi Margvelashvili, while on July 15 he was to meet with the Prime Minister, the Parliament Speaker and the Patriarch.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said at a press conference today, Donald Tusk planned to arrive in the village of Khurvaleti to survey the situation along the occupation line on the ground.
